Celebrating World Book Day at Burford Library
As Storyteller in Residence at Burford Library, I had the pleasure of celebrating World Book Day with library manager Carol-Amy and the pupils of Warwick Class from Burford Primary School. Together we enjoyed the magic of books, stories, imagination and everything that makes World Book Day so special!
We read two lively stories: The World Book Day Monster and Supertato: Presents Jack and the Beanstalk.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing the children dressed as their favourite book characters. Among the imaginative costumes were Peter Rabbit, sparkling fairies, colourful characters from The Smeds and the Smoos, Snow White, a dinosaur, and many other wonderful creations. The library felt like a place where stories had stepped right off the page.
Moments like these are a cheery reminder of how powerful stories can be, bringing children together, sparking imagination and creating memories around books.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the celebration so memorable, especially Head Teacher Holly Docherty and the teachers that joined the library on the morning. Every story shared helps inspire the next generation of readers. 💌
