Celebrating World Book Day at Acorns Primary School!

World Book Day was made extra special with a wonderful visit to Acorns Primary School in Long Compton, where it was a joy to celebrate stories, creativity, and a love of reading with the children of Class 1 and the wider school community.

A huge thank you to Miss Natasha Smith, Class 1 Teacher, and Mrs Young, Headteacher of Acorns, for such a warm welcome and for organising such an inspiring day focused on reading and imagination. It was fantastic to meet children across both EYFS, KS1 and KS2 to share the journey of becoming an author, what inspired the creation of the Alice the Palace Postwoman series, and the importance of being an eco-friendly author.

During the visit, we also explored how books support the development of creativity, and how the ability to imagine something is a fundamental step in innovation and creating new ideas and things.

With Acorns Primary championing a love of reading and OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning), it was wonderful to talk with pupils about storytelling, creativity, and how books can spark imagination in so many different ways.

One of the highlights of the visit was the chance to reflect together through a fun and creative stamp activity, where children could design their own ideas and continue the conversation about stories, communication, and the world around them.

It was such a pleasure to spend time with the enthusiastic young readers of Acorns Primary School. Their curiosity, brilliant questions, and excitement for books made the day truly memorable. Thanks again to Acorns for such a lovely World Book Day celebration - loved every minute and hope to visit again soon!
